Adam Frank / JRE 1130
Adam Frank spends time talking about the recent huge advancement in human understanding of the number of planets in the universe and what we believed 20 years ago was wrong. He then claims people who question his current understanding of the climate change religion are idiots. I find it very strange that a guy who studies stars and distant planets would not consider the massive effect of the sun on earth’s climate. The conversation about climate change between Joe Rogan and Adam Frank reminds of religious people discussing maters of faith and church. Particularity striking was their discussion on Al Gore and how he was bad for the movement. This is true because Al Gore’s predictions did not come true and his picture book is easily torn apart and can be proven to be misleading. If the science was correct then it does not matter who or how the science is presented. Newton’s law of universal gravitation is true whether or not Newton was a jerk or not. It can be tested and it can be confirmed.
Another funny part of the podcast is when Joe brings up the (erroneous) scientific consensus on climate change. Joe believes that if people agree on something it must be true. Sciences does not work like that, It doesn’t matter how many people believe something to be true, if one person can prove it is untrue, then it is not. See: Robert Shoch & John Anthony West
